Pet Aquamation

Gentle, respectful water cremation

We are a family owned and operated business.  We will be off island during the Spring Break period but have spoken to our amazing Animal Hospitals on Island and they will hold your loved ones until our return. Once we have collected your Fur Babies, we will notify you that they are in our safe hands.

We are still reachable via email if you have any questions.

We appreciate your understanding while we are away.

Pet Aftercare

The loss of your family pet can be a deeply heartfelt traumatic experience, no less than losing a family member. However, it’s also one event in the long life of joy, compassion and companionship you and your family shared with your pet over the years.

The healthy release of your grief, the celebration of a loving life and the process of moving beyond pain into acceptance and fond remembrance is what we can help with. Solace Aquamation can provide a respectful way to honour your cherished pet’s lifelong gift of unconditional love and acceptance.

Our Beginning

We “adopted” our son’s rescue Lab when he started college and had her flown down from Louisville, KY to live with us in Bermuda.  She had never seen the ocean or heard the sound of waves but it didn’t take long before “the beach” became her two favourite words.

At 13 years old she seemed a healthy and happy Lab chasing down tennis balls in and out of the surf, but without any forewarning, she collapsed with a  debilitating heart condition one night.  We had to face the agonizing decision to peacefully end her suffering.

What is Aquamation?

Aquamation, also known as alkaline hydrolysis is a water based , earth-friendly method of final disposition, providing pet parents with an alternative to direct private burial or co-mingling internment in the Marsh Folly Composting Facility.

This form of final disposition combines a gentle warm flow of water and alkali to accelerate the natural breakdown of organic materials leaving only the harder mineral bone material behind. Aquamation is the same natural process  that occurs when a loved one’s body is laid to rest directly in the earth, although at an accelerated rate. At the end of our cycle the bones are dried and processed into smaller pieces , free of pathogens and disease. We return your pet’s remains to you in an Earth friendly temporary urn for a private memorial service, scattering or burial. You may also choose to transfer the remains into your own permanent urn.
